    What a Night to Remember!

This week we celebrated the grand finale of our 2026 Folktellers for Literacy Program, where finalists came and winners were announced.

If we ever wondered what impact our program makes, this letter from a participating teacher says it all:

"I want to share my thoughts on last night’s award ceremony through my lens, and the incredible journey it provided for our Stockbridge students.
I have known the students who attended last night's ceremony for three years. One of them, in particular, has faced significant struggles over the years relating to his family dynamics. He used to lack confidence, struggled with his peers, cried often when frustrated, and unfortunately doesn't have the means to experience much outside of school.
Yesterday, he won his very first award. Because he didn't have a ride to Royal Oak, his teacher took it upon herself to drive him, along with her husband and newborn son. This young man talked about the event all day, went home to dress up, and told the whole school he was going to an award ceremony.
Last night, he won third place and became an absolute star. My wife, Angie, and I thought that was amazing, but what came next was even better. His reaction to his classmates winning first place brought me to tears. He warmly congratulated them and was completely over the moon that they won. The energy was filled with genuine love.
Three years ago, I was helping this student as a third grader, teaching him how to trust, how not to scream when he was angry, and showing him how respect is given and earned. Last night, I saw years of community support culminate at your event.
Your book, your ceremony, and your endless hours of work made this young man come alive. You helped him see exactly who he is and who he can become. You changed a life, and I was blessed to witness it.
Thank you both for making this possible.
God bless you." hashtag#literacy hashtag#empowerment hashtag#changinglives Stephen Sadler Josef Bastian Terri Lee Chandler Emagine Entertainment Carl Weyant
